❤️ To our beloved YCP members ❤️
We’ve arrived in the shortest month of the year, bringing us ever closer to spring. 🌷
But this February, instead of longing for what’s ahead, instead of wishing the month was different and the weather was better and it would just be time for vacation already, what if we practiced finding acceptance in exactly where we are right now? ⌛️
Of course the YCP team loves the physical benefits of yoga, the endorphins and strong muscles and flexible body. But we teach because of a deeper love and appreciation for the practice, a practice that is so much more than the physical part. ♥️
So this month, we’re highlighting an important yoga philosophy: santosha 🧘♀️
Santosha means “contentment” in Sanskrit. It is one of the five niyamas, personal observances practiced in order to develop a more yoga-aligned character. 🙏
Santosha reminds us that, okay, maybe the grass is greener on the other side, but we can learn to be content with the grass we’re currently lying in. 🌾
The practice of santosha allows us to let go of uncomfortable and inconvenient sensations, like FOMO or jealousy or longing. It allows us to find the beauty in what we already have, where we already are, opening our eyes to the joy and wonder of our present situation. 😍
After January, a month where we’re encouraged to think about what we’re missing in our lives and make changes to be “better,” why don’t we use February to practice santosha, and find gratitude for the blessings we’re already experiencing. ✨
Our teachers are dedicated to sharing the philosophical, emotional, and mental aspects of yoga in the classes we offer. To join us online or in person, check out our class schedule here. 🏃♀️
And if you’re curious to learn more about the spiritual side of yoga, perhaps check out one of our upcoming retreats where you can immerse yourself entirely into all elements of the practice. From February 25 - March 3 join Anuradha for Healing in the Himalayas, a yoga retreat in Northern India, or for an option closer to home join Jacqueline in the Saint Tropez Peninsula from May 12 - 15. More info here. 🏝️
We’re alway available via Instagram @yoga_club_paris or email yogaclubparis@gmail.com if you have any event or class questions or requests. 📧
Have a wonderful & content month, we look forward to seeing you on the mat,
The YCP Team
